NYSC Punishes 40 Corps Members, Honours 28 For Excellence

agos – Authorities of the National Youth Corps Service (NYSC) in Lagos State has reprimanded a total of 40 corps members for various offences ranging from abscondment from the service year and for flouting other rules of the scheme.

Of the lot, 23 corps members are to repeat the service year for absconding from service while 17 others are to serve various periods of extension of service.

In his address delivered at the Passing-Out-Ceremony for the 2017 Batch A Stream 1 Corps members deployed to Lagos, the state Coordinator, Prince Mohammed Momoh disclosed that much as the scheme recognises and reward excellence, it also in equal measure punished corps members that breached it’s rules and regulations.

Speaking further at the occasion where 4,876 corps members were discharged from the national service, Prince Momoh stated they have all contributed their own quota to the overall development of the country through primary assignments and the various community development services they embarked upon during their national service in Lagos state.

I am delighted to inform you that a total of three corps members will smile home with the state honours awards, six will receive the chairman’s commendation while 20 corps members will get the state coordinator’s attestation in recognition of their outstanding conducts and performances during the National service,” he added.
